A trenching service is the excavation of a narrow channel in the ground so you (or your licensed trades) can install things like pipes, conduit, drainage, or cabling. We dig to the line, depth, and access conditions you specify.

We trench for common residential and light commercial jobs, including:

  • Stormwater and drainage runs

  • Sewer and plumbing trench lines (for your plumber to install)

  • Electrical and data conduit runs (for your electrician to install)

  • Irrigation and garden services (sprinklers, pipework, lighting)

Our national pricing for wet hire services is $119 per hour. Our minimum charge is 3 hours plus 1 hour of travel for each job.

Yes. Trenching is available as wet hire, meaning we supply the equipment plus an operator.

It depends on:

  • Trench length, depth, and width

  • Soil type (clay, rock, sand)

  • Access and obstacles

  • Spoil plan (stockpile vs removal)
    Send photos and rough measurements and we’ll give you a realistic time estimate.

We’ll agree the spoil plan before we start:

  • Stockpile on-site in a spot you choose, or

  • Load out for removal if you need it (location and scope dependent)
    Site restore depends on what you want next (backfill by your trades, compaction, or leaving the trench open for install). We’ll confirm the finish in your quote.

Yes. For wet hire, we provide operators who are trained and licensed to operate the equipment.

We cover trenching through our local Diggermate locations across Australia and New Zealand. Availability varies by area.
