A few weeks ago, Mick and Josh from the Diggermate franchisor team flew over to South Australia to catch up with our local franchisees. The trip was all about checking in, sharing insights, and seeing how things are going on the ground.
Catching Up Over a Pint
First stop—Mick O’Shea’s Irish Pub (a local pub) for a quick catch-up! Over a few cold ones, Mick and Josh reconnected with franchisees, swapped stories, and got a firsthand look at how their businesses are tracking.
Visiting Diggermate Yards Across SA
From there, it was time to hit the road and visit each Diggermate yard in South Australia. Seeing the machines in action, chatting with franchisees, and hearing about their experiences is always a highlight.
Every Diggermate location is locally owned and operated, and it’s great to see how each owner is making their business work for them.
Aldinga Beach Gets a New Owner
A standout moment of the trip was the Diggermate Aldinga Beach turnover. A big shoutout to Dean for running a great business, and a warm welcome to Brett, who’s taking over the reins. It’s always exciting to see a smooth transition and another Diggermate franchisee stepping up.
Diggermate: A Network of Local Business Owners
Diggermate Aldinga Beach
Brett has lived in the area for nearly 20 years and brings over 15 years of experience across various construction environments, including residential buildings, industrial abseiling, and rigging within the mining sector. With his hands-on approach, Brett is ready to support his community.
Diggermate Angle Vale
Diggermate Angle Vale is owned by Greg, who has been steadily growing his fleet to meet demand. In less than a year, he has expanded to four machines, including a mini excavator, micro excavator, skip bin, and mini loader.
Diggermate Flagstaff Hill
Jackson and Rachel runs Diggermate Flagstaff Hill. Jackson, a fitter and turner, has extensive mechanical expertise, while Rachel, a project coordinator, brings strong organisational skills. Since launching in October 2024 with one machine, they have grown their fleet to include a micro excavator, compaction plate, mini loader, and a fully electric zero-tail mini excavator.
Diggermate Millicent
Diggermate Millicent is operated by Elliot and Allana, who recently moved to the Limestone Coast. Elliot is a veterinarian, and Allana is a part-time myotherapist and pilates instructor. They are excited to build connections in their community while balancing their new business with family life. Recently, they moved into a new yard at 61 Mount Gambier Rd, Millicent, giving them more space to expand their operations and better serve their customers.
Diggermate Morphett Vale
Joe, the owner of Diggermate Morphett Vale, has been in the area for 15 years and has extensive experience in construction, landscaping, and machinery. Since launching in July 2024, his business has seen steady growth, with sales increasing by over 90% in just six months.
Diggermate Mount Barker
Diggermate Mount Barker was previously owned by Dean. The current owners, Tom and Jordy were originally Diggermate customers who transitioned into business owners. They juggle running their Diggermate operation while working in the mining and resources industry, bringing strong problem-solving skills to their business.
Diggermate Renmark
Diggermate Renmark is run by a father-and-son team, Darren and Jordan. Darren, an auto electrician, has deep roots in Renmark, while Jordan, with extensive welding experience, manages the day-to-day operations. Their fully equipped workshop ensures their machines are always in top condition for customers.
Diggermate Victor Harbor
Diggermate Victor Harbor is owned by Dean, who previously operated Diggermate Aldinga Beach and Mount Barker. Seeing a demand for equipment hire in Victor Harbor, he seized the opportunity to establish a location in Port Elliot, allowing him to enjoy the area’s beaches and climate while growing his business.
This trip was a great reminder that Diggermate is more than just mini excavator hire—it’s about building solid businesses and being part of a supportive network.
