Diggermate welcomes first time users of our equipment. If that’s you, once you have booked on this page we recommend you watch our video tutorials prior to your day on the machine. If you have a job that is bigger than you want to do yourself we have several operators in each location so either one of our Diggermate team can come and do the job or we can find someone to do it for you. No job is too big or too small.

Frequently Asked Questions

When you hire a 5T to 8T excavator from Diggermate, you’ll get a well-maintained machine ready for tough jobs, along with a standard digging bucket. Depending on your location, we can also supply attachments like rock breakers, augers, or mud buckets. Delivery and pickup can be arranged Australia-wide.

These machines are designed for larger worksites, so you’ll need at least 2.5 to 3 metres of width for access. If you’re unsure whether a 5T to 8T excavator will fit on your site, get in touch with your local Diggermate and we’ll help you assess the access requirements.

Pricing varies by location and machine size. As a guide:

  • 5T excavator hire starts from around $350/day (incl. GST)

  • 8T excavator hire starts from around $420/day (incl. GST)

Due to transport and setup requirements, most of our 5T to 8T excavators are hired on a per-day basis. However, we do offer flexible options for longer or short-term projects. Ask your local Diggermate for custom hire terms.

No licence is required for dry hire, but you must be competent and experienced with operating larger excavators. These machines are powerful and not suited to beginners. If needed, we also offer wet hire (operator included) in select locations.

No – these machines are too heavy to tow with a standard ute or trailer. A 5T excavator on a trailer can weigh over 5,000kg. You’ll need a truck or float with high towing capacity and the correct licence. Diggermate provides delivery and pickup for all 5T to 8T excavators.

You’d need a towing setup rated for at least 8,000–10,000kg GVM. That includes a heavy-duty truck or float trailer with electric brakes and a licenced driver. Most customers choose delivery instead – it’s quicker, easier, and stress-free.

Yes. We offer wet hire (with operator) at selected Diggermate locations across Australia. If you’re not licenced or experienced, this is the safest and most efficient option. Our operators are fully trained and ready to help.

Absolutely. Diggermate provides reliable delivery and pickup services for all 5T to 8T excavators. We’ll drop the machine to your site and collect it when you’re done, saving you the hassle of transport.
