Diggermate provides swimming pool excavation with an operator for residential, commercial, trade and construction projects that suit the local compact fleet. Our operators generally use micro and mini excavators, mini loaders and skid steers weighing 3.5 tonnes or less. Machine sizes, attachments and availability vary by location.
The excavation is completed to the dimensions, set-out and levels supplied by your pool builder, engineer or approved project plan. Before quoting, the local operator checks access, working room, soil conditions, slope, underground services and the volume of material to be moved.
When compact equipment suits a pool dig
- Backyard, courtyard and established-property projects with restricted access
- Plunge pools, fibreglass pools and other defined excavations suited to the available equipment
- Pool renovations or removal work with a clear excavation scope
- Jobs that need spoil stockpiled, loaded or removed as agreed in the quote
Some large pool excavations, deep cuts, hard-rock sites or projects needing larger haulage and machinery may require a specialist with heavier equipment. Your local Diggermate will confirm whether the available fleet is suitable before the job is booked.
How swimming pool excavation usually works
- Share the plans and site details. Send the pool dimensions, set-out, access photos, gate measurements, ground conditions and target dates.
- Confirm services and approvals. Underground services, permits, engineering and the approved excavation requirements must be identified before digging starts.
- Match the equipment to the site. The local operator confirms access, machine size, attachments, spoil handling and the agreed scope.
- Excavate to the supplied set-out. The pool area is dug and shaped to the information provided, subject to actual ground conditions.
- Handle material as quoted. Soil can be stockpiled, loaded or removed depending on access, disposal requirements and local availability.
Equipment used for compact pool excavation
- Micro excavators for narrow access
- Mini excavators for digging and shaping
- Mini loaders or skid steers for moving spoil
- Tipper trucks, tipper trailers or skip bins where locally available
What is and is not included
Diggermate’s standard pool service covers the agreed excavation and earthworks. Pool design, structural engineering, surveying, shell installation, plumbing, electrical work, certification and landscaping are not automatically included. The pool builder or relevant qualified provider remains responsible for those parts of the project unless a local Diggermate has separately confirmed them in writing.
